Poem: The Patience of Ordinary Things

It is a kind of love, is it not?
How the cup holds the tea,
How the chair stands sturdy and foursquare,
How the floor receives the bottoms of shoes
Or toes. How soles of feet know
Where they're supposed to be.
I've been thinking about the patience
Of ordinary things, how clothes
Wait respectfully in closets
And soap dries quietly in the dish,
And towels drink the wet
From the skin of the back.
And the lovely repetition of stairs.
And what is more generous than a window

Hi Elizabeth!!

I LOVE this poem... so great!! I accidently clicked on your friend's blog too. What a nice idea too.
I think you're going to like blogging... It's a nice way to express and share thoughts... to fly the flag so to speak and see who runs to join the game or shoot it out of the sky. Most of all for me, though... it's a way to solidify ideas, set goals and continue on the journey.
I look forward to reading yours as time goes by.
